This was a part of my life for a very long time. I LOVE "breathing life" into a piece that are considered "throw away" pieces. I appreciated everyone whom sent me free "scraps" of horses because they didn't have the heart to throw them out. I took much pride my workmanship & it showed. Everyone whom had me restore a piece are amazed at the "can't tell where the breaks are....it's amazing!" Since I am battling with osteoarthritis now, my pieces are few and far between. It's so sad, as I truly miss the "daily" challenges it presented. I still have some very lovely pieces that I plan on finishing as time goes by, but I can't take on outside work at this time. Hope you enjoy what you see below....NO trick photography here, just my workmanship.
I "LOVE" a Challenge and this piece was just up my alley!
VERY lovely crisp mold details
A "Keeper"!
A rare mini that I couldn't pass up.
This guy had 2 missing legs.
Now he's back to normal.
This was given to me like a lot of "throw away" pieces are.
He had NO legs, but his details are incredible even under the gloss finish.
I just had to breath new life into this piece.
Wow, this guy had horrible leg breaks, not just breaks but were shattered. So many tiny parts & lot's of missing parts too.
But this is the old Monrovia piece was worth the many long hours to complete him.
Missing 1 leg & missing leg parts.
This is one of the nicest Monrovia Palomino's I have seen, almost crisp detailing.
This sad guy only had his two badly broken up front legs.
He had NO back legs & NO tail.
BUT his mold details are CRISP!
Another one that was brought back to life! Now looks like new
Always a shame to see lots of legs broken, but he was worth the effort.
These Hackneys are one of the hardest pieces to do restorations on. I have done only 2 and thank goodness both turned out just as lovely.
TRASH? Well, I couldn't throw him away either... so I just got down to it and I'm pleased with his results. This amazing piece has placed at live shows, earned his NAN cards & then I took him to NAN 2009 and he PLACED in the TOP TEN even with 2 judges inspecting all the models....
Lovely Nancy but many legs breaks.
Was very pleased with the restoration.
A real jumbled up mess & a lot of work went into this piece. BUT his mold details are Super Crisp, a beautiful piece & a keeper!
Always sad to see mini's broken up.
They are extremely hard to do because of their tiny size. But I think he turned out nice.
Never knew a Buckskin Cutter was made in Monrovia till I got this one.
Well worth the time & effort on this nice oldie!
This was real challenge to say the least!
The base belongs to the Rare gloss Bay (Buckskin?) Hackney but was unfortunately dropped by the previous owner.
The piece of course is nothing without the base, so I put my mind to it and it actually came out looking very close to the original.
